Fly Fishing DVDs.

The visual approach to learning

One of the perks of being a fly fishing web site owner is the occasional request to take a fellow angler's new or revised product for a test run.

I've always dreamt of fly fishing the pristine waters of New Zealand after reading numerous articles about this beautiful fishery but I have yet had the chance to do so. So when I received an email a few weeks back to review a new website offering fly fishing dvd I jumped at the opportunity.

The Fly Fishing DVD website is a new website offering a mix of fresh and saltwater fly fishing videos prepared for immediate download and playback on your PC. The videos are professionally edited from superb broadcast quality video footage, backed by over 35 years of experience in film and television.

I'm a primarily freshwater/trout fisherman so the first video I downloaded was entitled "Backcountry Trout" which is set in the beautiful Rakaia watershed of New Zealand's South Island. While not touted as instructional videos, the downloaded video is a very high quality video mix of various types of fly fishing scenarios. You'll see scenes where the trout are seemingly right on queue regularly sipping flies off the surface and you'll see other challenging scenarios where a variety of tactics are called upon.

The videos at this point seem to be about 15 to 30 minutes in length and are only $5 each and in this day and age of instant gratification, they are just what the doctor ordered. At this point, the number of videos are limited but they are constantly working on new productions so you'll want to check back often.

I give them two thumbs up.
